The Rosehill Crew
We are a small (if you don't count our waistlines) family living deep in the Norfolk Fens...we were'nt always fen-dwellers, we spend many happy years in Cape Town, South Africa, where we learnt to love the outdoor lifestyle, and particularly the outdoor cooking culture ...Braaivleis (BBQ) & potjiekos ( cooking in a cast iron pot on three legs).
With our love of good food and Wine (did I mention wine?) came the inevitable caloric consequences on our once svelt figures.
What we are hoping to share with you is both our 'Big Weekend Blowouts', and our weekday attempts to clawback the calories.
Meet Caitlin:- Caitlin might be described as a reluctant chef, which is a pity because she has potential...her Four-Cheese Macaroni Cheese is truly amazing!
Her role is Sous Chef , Chief Taster and Tea maker.
She is training to be an alcoholic and does'nt like Peppercorn Feta Cheese.
Caitlin does not do dishes!
Hi, I'm Chris:- I'm the boss (when Olympia is'nt listening), and i'm at my happiest cooking outdoors with a beer or a glass of red wine in my hand.
My Role is Executive Chef, Fire Lighter and Sommelier. I'm not classically trained ......pause for gasps of disbelief......but I am keen.
Unlike Caitlin i am a fully accredited alcoholic, but never one to rest on my laurels am always seeking further training opportunities.
I don't like Cauliflower , or Tripe ...however despite this I am being followed by the Tripe Marketing Board on Twitter....True...Check it out!
I do not do dishes or windows!
STOP PRESS:- While verifying the above facts I now discover i am being followed by Katrina Murphy - a Board Member of the Tripe Marketing Board - as well. Its Harrassment is what it is!
This is Olympia: - The Boss , 'she that must be obeyed', She is the gastronomic head of the household but her reputation for fine food extends much further afield.
Her role is Masterchef, Creative Director, Head of health & Safety and Saver of Lost Souls.
While Olympia does'nt mind a drink or two she harbours no aspirations to alcoholism.....which is just as well 'cos someones got to drive!
She does'nt eat Snails or Brussel Sprouts ....who does!. She makes some incredible South African dishes, and hopes to explore her Greek-Cypriot culinary heritage further on these pages.
Sadly Olympias' only condition to taking part in our chronicle was that the recipe for her Legendary Chocolate Cake should never be revealed........Don't worry i'm working on it!
She IS the boss...and we love her
So, Thats the crew ....at the moment. .....In the not too distant future we are expecting a New Arrival at Rosehill Farm.....You Heard it here first......and we are very excited about the thought of a new little mouth to feed.....Stay Tuned!
